So, you retired from 30 years of Tertiary Education, did you?! What were you teaching to those at that level of advanced learning?

The problem I've always found with spreadsheets and this new AI technology for that matter, is that both are wholly dependent upon historical data, past experience, or rely on familiar trends repeating themselves with very predictable patterns. What neither consider however, are the gut feelings of the 'present moment' when other factors unrelated to the issue at hand suddenly seems to be of influence in some way.
If things were still being done 'old school', someone like yourself would be able to understand those abstract influences and what potential impact they will likely have, whereas AI and spreadsheets wouldn't be able to sense those otherwise intuitive human understandings of what is likely to follow.

@swirlie Actually those spreadsheets and graphs now do it better than I did..But it all harks back to the idea that all economic models work perfectly, until yoiu get people involved. The errors, the failures of logic, the ego and the pure greed and what I had a gift for guestimating. So I managed to see roughly how far off course the predictions would be and look at the results of the inevitable adjustments.. But the computing caught up and surpassed me about 6 or seven years ago.
