I am same weight as when I was 18, I wasn't always that weight, I have lost about 30lbs over 10 years, I love looking at my body now, and am still not finished, it is continual and a way of life now.. I have been this slim for eight years now... I guess you have to really want to be healthy...I no longer eat out, I make all my meals at home, I eat a low fat whole food plant based diet/lifestyle....no refined foods, no animal food, none, no oils...if I want fat I will eat an avocado, usually one half on a given day...or some nuts..i do some weights, 2 or 3 times each week, 20 lbs....2 dumbells..

I'd say the first step is to talk to your family. It's the same for me right now, but I just told them that it's very important for me to actually get fit and thankfully they understood. Believe me, it's 10x harder to actually start eating more healthily if there's always something to tempt you into cheating.

To be honest, people are completely different weight-loss wise, and as such diets and thingies such as that may do little to no good. What's a tad bit more important is to get a schedule in place. For example - wake up at, let's say 12 o'clock, eat a bit of breakfast (if you're already vegetarian, the food you eat is actually not that important. It's the quantities that play the major role) and then keep eating regularly after that, let's say every 3-4 hours or so. This helps the body regulate energy-storage (and through that, fat loss) immensely.

The second thing that might do good is to start up a few hobbies that involve physical activity, thus creating a win-win situation: you lose a few pounds in the process of doing something that you like. For me, it's gardening, making firewood, taking walks and so forth. Of course, if you live in a city centre, then that's basically out of the question, however it's still something to think about.

But in general, walking and cycling are the safest bet when it comes to losing weight. They're both very calming, don't tire you out too much and build up muscles and endurance (well, walking not that much, but it still helps a lot). Running is a good method too, don't get me wrong, but the risk of wearing out joints and generally hurting your feet is a tad bit higher than with cycling or walking (it mostly depends on initial body weight. Running can actually do more harm than good when a person is extremely overweight, but otherwise it should be safe).

Other good methods, that not only burn fat but have additional bonuses, are swimming and hiking. Swimming is generally the absolute panacea for all physical problems: it never puts any pressure on joints so no matter what the initial body weight is, it's still good, it burns more calories than one might think (when swimming enthusiastically, that is) and it relaxes the muscles and helps speed up the process of them healing and growing. Now, granted, hiking has a lot of risks, but the rewards make it worth the pain. Just being out and about in nature is for me more worthwhile than strolling on random city streets, but that's just me.

So, to sum it up - routine, routine, routine and slightly smaller portions. That should be the base to a very nice and steady loss of weight.

I hope everything works out great for you!

I don't know about more carbs total, but more complex carbs for sure. And non animal protein sources. And I did lose all of my weight I lost over 20lbs very slowly but it's easier to keep it off that way. Took about six months.

Resistance training is like witty name said; strength training to tone and develop your muscles. The more muscle mass the easier it will be to lose weight. HIIT is high intensity interval training. It's a method that can be applied to whatever workout you're doing where you do your selected workout st full effort for 30 seconds and then rest for ten, and keep going.

So for example I run at an easy pace to gain endurance (a longer running time) but someday I will do strides (running as fast as possible for 1 min with a 20-30 second rest) to gain running speed.

If you look up HIIT there is a diet and workout plan that outlines the amount of calories you can have. There's a bulking phase and a cutting phase.

Sorry for writing you a book but HIIT has been proven to optimize the results of your workout 😁😁

It can be a lot harder for some people to lose weight, and the heavier you are, the harder it is to lose and keep off.

Unfortunately the only way to effectively lose weight is diet and lots of exercise. Running, resistance training. You can download an app called myfitnesspal and it really spells it out for you. You need to create a calorie defecit to lose weight. I do HIIT for my workouts and it works well.

I could've wrote this myself . I too am 4'11 and have always struggled with my weight . When your as short as we are ,even gaining 5 pounds can seem like too much :( ...it certainly does not help when people are cruel about it . I know ,I've been there ....* sigh* many times . I've lost a lot of weight do to lifestyle changes . That includes healthy diet, excersize and staying active . It doesn't have to be complicated ... Make it simple so it's easy for you to follow and stick with . The objective is to be healthy not " skinny" . I've changed the way I see food , that has helped as well . I'm not perfect ,I do give in to sweets now and then . It's ok ...you just keep on going ,eat healthy and excersize ,stay active ...but what is more important than that is ...your mind ! If you can change your perspectives on you and how you see things it can make a world of difference on Everything else . I wish you the best of luck :)

I can't do cheat days, if I give in once I'll give in again and again
LittleRee · 26-30, F
@Flenflyys :) Thanks for the info! Would it be okay if I private message you to ask you some questions about weight loss? :) Not right now though but maybe later today if that is okay with you? :P

Eat healthy 6 days a week and have one cheat day so you get that junk food you crave. Also have a good mix of cardio and weight training.

@rebz... consistency is the key ...
Pick a time of day...that is yours...and walk or run, yoga etc..but it should be a routine .
LittleRee · 26-30, F
@Flenflyys Are you trying to lose weight? o___o You already look skinny (not in a bad way though) :) I used to use my fitness pal but I think their app isn't really for vegetarians because I was told vegetarians need more carbs than people who eat meat so their plate plan may not work with me. I would be willing to try it again though. What is HIIT and resistance training if you don't mind me asking? :)

What physical activity do you get (now that the gym is no longer an option?)
LittleRee · 26-30, F
@Distancerunner Not much :( I go on walks sometimes and that's basically it.

Loosing weight is only important for two reasons, health and happiness.

If your happy like you are, ignore what others think. It is a major failing of today's society that stereotyping has become the norm.

We are all individuals and as such the only ones opinion that truly matters is yours. Stop beating yourself up. Accept yourself for who you are.

And as a added note. Not all men and women like stick insects.

@little, one cheat day isn't going to make you gain back all of the weight. If you're being good the other days and working out too it will be fine.
LittleRee · 26-30, F
@Lackwittyname Wouldn't you just gain the weight you lost back on your cheat day though? :o
LittleRee · 26-30, F
@Masterseekingone but I am not healthy or happy at my current weight :'(
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
If you walk a lot it will help. Listen to music and get lost in your thoughts. :)
LittleRee · 26-30, F
@Moribund Thank you! :)
