Since last summer one very special feline has taken up residence at our 16 Wetstraat/Rue de la Loi (the offical residence of the Belgian prime ministers): Maximus Textoris Pulcher. The cat was abandoned and later found in the wild, after which he was taken in by the Poezenbos cat shelter in the community of Buggenhout.
His life outdoors has left its mark though because Maximus carries the FIV virus (feline AIDS), which means he must live exclusively indoors and has no contact with other cats. He's a Scottish Fold, a cat breed whose breeding is prohibited in Flanders and the Brussels-Capital Region due to a genetic mutation that causes pain and deformities.
Despite his troubled past the cat Maximus deserves also a peaceful life, appropriate care, and above all, all the affection he can get daily. His integration is going very well: he's being pampered, surrounded by people, and seems to have adapted perfectly to his new environment.
Comes along the occasional jihadist drone attack plan, and whilst the intended targets of the actual attack weren't named by the prosecutor's office, Belgium's Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prevot reveailed that Prime Minister Bart De Wever was among them.
Just in case you're wondering our Federal Prosecutor concerning Terrorism, Ann Fransen, reported that there had been atleast 80 terrorism investigations opened in Belgium in the one year already. That's almost about one every four days. No wonder we are all looking at our cats for added protection here

Could it be that European countries were too busy being liberal and progressive letting in so many refugees and didn't think a few steps ahead to realise what would happen? 🤔

In New York there's been a significant rise in hate crimes in recent years, with 1,089 incidents reported in the state in 2023. That's a 69% increase since 2019
@val70 you can quote stats as much as you want but the fact remains, if there would have been some foresight and the Islamists wouldn't have been let in at all you wouldn't currently be in the situation you're in. Not just Belgium. Scandinavian countries, France, Britain, Germany, Holland. You all made the same mistake and you're all in the same situation.
@val70 there are neighbourhoods in Brussels, Amsterdam and Paris that Police refuse to enter because they are middle eastern ghettos and they're plain scared to enter them. In Britain major cities have Muslim mayors as will New York City soon. And , the Western families have negative population growth whilst the Muslim families have 3-4-5 children . In Sweden the crime rate of rape has risen due to the refugees. They already have realised their mistake. Another point. In Islam there is something called "da'aweh" which is "peaceful" influence , in contrast to "jihad" which is violent. They themselves say that their aim is to take over. You can bury your head in the sand as deep as you want to deny it (I know, it's not pleasant to hear) but unless something drastic happens they WILL take over
