According to police and rescue officials in the secured Police lines neighborhood of Peshawar, Pakistan, a strong explosion at a mosque killed at least 47 worshippers and wounded over 150 others on Monday, 30th January 2023.
Local media reported the explosion was caused by a suicide attack.

The explosion occurred during Zuhr prayers at approximately 1:40 pm, and police and army personnel were reportedly present inside the mosque at the time, according to police.

Part of the mosque roof and wall had collapsed and the area was cordoned off says AF reporters. A medical emergency was imposed with only ambulances allowed to enter as the injured are being shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

"I am here at the scene and rescue work is ongoing," the Peshawar deputy commissioner Shafi Ullah said. "More bodies are being taken out. Currently, our priority is to save people buried under the debris."
Meanwhile, in Islamabad, roads leading to the Red Zone have been on tight security.
