Ever noticed you never hear much on the person's background or how a friend or family is grieving THEIR death.

The murderer's family may well not want any publicity, and that should be respected. From their point of view it's bad enough losing him, but then they have the burden of what he has done, of his victims' deaths, as well.

The problem with the murderer committing suicide at the scene, or being shot dead there, is that is very hard to determine his motive unless he has left clear indications of what he intended. Often the evidence seems circumstantial, such as an obsession with nasty web-sites promoting hateful ideas.
That's even harder to stomach then the victims' families, though. It's not something I want to watch, personally.
