@Anniedlr Oh OK. Isn't it funny how a pilot's nickname/call sign remains for life. I knew a WWI pilot who went by his call sign Pappy. He was shot down in WWI but survived and was a Wing Commander in WWII.

@Anniedlr The guy who the Red Baron was chasing when he was shot down had the call sign Wop. He lived next door to my wife's aunt. If you talked about Wilfred May people would have no idea who you were talking about. If you said 'Wop' May everyone knows who you were talking about. Here in Edmonton a region of the city is called Mayfield. No one knows that it was named after Wop May. They should have called it Wopfield and everyone would know who the area was named after.
