[quote][c=000000]° US officials have confirmed that Israel has carried out military operations against Iran. The officials said Israel warned the Biden administration earlier on Thursday that a strike was coming in the next 24 to 48 hours. According to CNN, the Israelis assured their US counterparts that Iran’s nuclear facilities would not be targeted.

° Iranian state media reported that air defence batteries had been activated after reports of explosions near a major airbase close to the city of Isfahan. The Iranian government appeared to play down the scale of the attack, with a senior commander in Iran’s army saying there was no damage in Isfahan, according to state TV.

° Isfahan is home to sites associated with Iran’s nuclear program, including its underground Natanz enrichment site. State television described all sites in the area as “fully safe” and the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), confirmed there was no damage to any nuclear sites.

° The airbase close to Isfahan has long been home to Iran’s fleet of American-made F-14 Tomcats – purchased before the 1979 Islamic revolution.

° Airports in Tehran, Shiraz and Isfahan were closed and flights have been cleared from the western half of Iran, flight tracking website FlightRadar24 reported. Local warnings to aviators suggested the airspace may have been closed. At 8am local time some airports lifted restrictions, local media in Iran reported. Although UAE based FlyDubai cancelled all flight to Iran’s capital on Friday.

° Tensions across the region remain high after Iran launched hundreds of drones as well as cruise missiles towards Israel on Saturday, in the Islamic Republic’s first ever direct attack on the Jewish state, in response to the 1 April strike on an Iranian diplomatic building in the Syrian capital, Damascus, which killed a senior figure in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards and eight other officers.

° On Thursday, Iran’s foreign minister told CNN that if Israel chooses to retaliate, Tehran’s response would be immediate. “If the Israeli regime commits the great error once again our response will be decisive, definitive and regretful for them,” Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said.

Israel insists it attacked.

Iran says if there was a drone attack, it caused no damage and three small drones, originating from within Iran, were destroyed. The anti-Mullahs Iranian opposition is capable of carrying this out, and have done similar attacks in the past.

The US says "I see nothing, I hear nothing".

The only point of this attack, is for Netanyahu to prove that he can give the finger to Biden anytime he wants.

I'm sure you mean "who doesn't give Biden the finger". Certainly no one with a brain.

Looks like it was just a drone infiltration. It doesn't look like it was a serious attack.

@Cryptoqueen I have much more confidence in China, Russia, and Iran possessing nuclear weapons than I do in the American government. The leaders of those nations have shown rationality and maturity. Unlike the United States, which is the only country to have deployed nuclear weapons on a significant scale. American lawmakers constantly advocate for expanding nuclear capabilities. There's a genuine possibility that someone like Trump could potentially authorize a nuclear strike.

@Justice4All I think trump is the best leader, he is really good and has strong words
causing other heads of state to lower their voices and be wary of him

@Cryptoqueen While I don't hold an anti-Trump stance, I do believe caution is warranted. Numerous people within his administration have testified to Trump's erratic behavior and propensity for military intervention. Throughout his 4 year tenure, Trump primarily focused on boosting the US economy. And he did a good job. However, there is a significant risk that Trump will instigate a conflict with Iran, which will be difficult for the US given Iran's extensive network of proxies. A conflict with Iran could also embolden other nations to initiate conflicts under the assumption the US will be too distracted and unable to respond.

Biden has had a horrible foreign policy performance. Even so, he has thus far avoided entangling the nation in a major war. Trump's demeanor speaks volumes. It mirrors that of Hitler, who sought to restore Germany to its past glory. What measures are required to restore the US to its former greatness?

And a damn good thing too. I think both countries feel they have "made a point"
Congratulations. You folks worked so hard to make war possible in this time!
American people should take a final solution bow.

Gotta make Zephaniah1:2-3 (ERV) happen ="2 The Lord says, “I will destroy everything on earth.[a] 3 I will destroy all the people and all the animals. I will destroy the birds in the air and the fish in the sea. I will destroy the evil people and everything that makes them sin. I will remove all people from the earth.” This is what the Lord said."

@wonkywinky just so you know this is not the only article that is saying Iran is downplaying this.

I have actually looked at many of the articles on this. From CNN, NBC and even Al Jazeera.

Iran is ignoring this as a joke. This was not a deterrent to Iran. It's still business as usual.
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
@DeWayfarer Whatever,Iran is like Russia and all the other backward dictatorships.I take no heed of what they claim. When Ukraine hits an airfield, they say"Oh it was a maintenance fault that caused an explosion"....They prefer to claim incompetence of their own people than admit to an enemy success.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@wonkywinky let me put it this way.

Iran at least injured a Israeli teen girl. Nothing here of importance even got hit! Much less anyone injured.

It's why they are downplaying it.
