Stardew Valley: Trash Bear [I Love Rpgs]

I got this RPG for Switch about a month ago called Stardew Valley, and it’s really awesome, I highly recommend it! Most of the time when I’ve had a question that stumped me I’ve found the answer on Reddit or occasionally some other website. Well here’s finally one I can’t find the info on, and I don’t have a Reddit account so I don’t know of any better place to post this question than here. My problem is this: the Trash Bear is asking for poi, but I haven’t yet obtained the recipe for poi. This situation runs contrary to the advice I read on Reddit, which said, don’t worry, Trash Bear will never ask for something you don’t already know how to make. Anyone know what I’m talking about and maybe have any advice? Thanks!
