I'm thinking about getting a gaming console instead of a gaming PC.

I've always been a little bit resentful of gaming consoles because it does suck to have your gaming hardware locked down by the companies. They can sell you games at crazy prices because you don't have competition once you've bought their machine. Devs can't just slap whatever Indie game they want on a website for you to play, and mods are out of the question. For a long time, PC seemed obviously preferable.

On the flipside though, playing on my couch with my big TV does sound pretty nice, especially if I want to have company. I think consoles are a lot more sociable than PCs, and I want to be a more social person. A console is also a hell of a lot cheaper than a gaming PC in terms of both time and money. And while mods are fun, I do think they detract from the experiences game devs are supposed to be cultivating for players.

Very tough choice overall. I think I'll take a little more time to think about it.

Idk I have an Xbox and I like it a lot. I get my games when they're discounted, so I pay the minimum prices.
And yes, it's comfy.
But if it's the comfort, you could always just get a controller and hook your pc with your tv

@greensnacks I did like the XBox 360 back in the day, but from what I'm hearing, Microsoft is starting to let PlayStation use their console exclusives. So it seems like I'll get a better selection of games if I go with PS5 Pro.

I did think about using a controller on PC and putting it in the living room. I just don't know if there's a way to get that to work while still being able to open the damn thing on a controller, without having to dick around on the backend all the time.
@BlueVeins I've played like that.
Grab a Bluetooth mouse. Hdmi cable and a controller. It works. No lag, just need to get a good hdmi cable.

And od course, you put the Bluetooth mouse next to you

I'm told that for online multi player games that a gaming pc is best so you can avoid the lag. I'm always hearing about players on Fortnite getting wiped out by the people who have a gaming pc.
