I Am a Girl Gamer

I didn't really think about the phrase "Girl Gamer" too much until I started to write this story. And I really don't like it. Yes I'm a girl, and yes I'm a gamer, but that doesn't make me some special different type of gamer just because I'm a girl. Gender should have no bearing on how, why, or whether you play games. I only really keep this group on my profile so I can rant about this stuff.

Mahjack, keep in mind that females may not have the same interests in the types of games males do. I have 3 sons and often our interests differ. However, I watched one playing witcher and now I'm playing it. I may not have picked it up if I didn't actually see it. I do like it.

I raid in Warcraft and FF. I am no wee girl in our raids and maintain higher damage numbers as anyone else.
I've been taught through the years by more male players. That's just how the numbers worked out. But I play well enough to be accepted in large raids. I am far from the only female. One raid appeared to be almost half female. Tho so many guys play as female. But when you have voice chat, it's fairly obvious who's who.
Warcraft....I play 2 servers. One it a pvp server. That will keep you on your toes. There are a lot of females on pvp servers. I would have assumed pvp server would not be something females were interested in.
Not so. The ladies are there in surprisingly high numbers. They are not shy. Do a bit of research.
