I Am a Girl Gamer

I didn't really think about the phrase "Girl Gamer" too much until I started to write this story. And I really don't like it. Yes I'm a girl, and yes I'm a gamer, but that doesn't make me some special different type of gamer just because I'm a girl. Gender should have no bearing on how, why, or whether you play games. I only really keep this group on my profile so I can rant about this stuff.

@Mehjack the point is I don't want to feel special just because I'm a girl and a gamer. And I don't see something wrong with it, but the nonchelant girl gamer jokes people make online and the things people say about girl gamers... some of it is just annoying but some things can be just plain hurtful. That's my problem. And again, you say we're not the majority, but as I said, you'd be surprised, especially girls my age. I remember lots of girls playing games when I was in school, arguably more that the boys, and at least the same amount. I guess it depends where you live.
