I Am a Gamer

Not as much as I used to be, but I can't imagine a time when gaming won't be an important part of my life.

Same here. ^___^ can't wait for many magical things to develop in future! Graphics HD's x100 performance x100 everything develops even into things you wouldn't believe were possible.

I really hope that some company (or eccentric billionaire) somewhere decides to invest the time and money to create something "more" than what games are now - motion controls were an interesting gimmick, but it would be amazing if someone would create something truly... "bigger" - like an MMO where each expansion builds on what came before instead of making all previous areas irrelevant, or a technology that creates deeper VR-like immersion, or some way to somehow professionally parse player-created content to pick out the good stuff, and use procedurally generated maps, and weave it all together to create something simultaneously larger and yet more detailed than anything that's existed before, aside from rl of course.

That, and even more, that we can not imagine :D like an AI that you would think of like how can a computer even be like this? Perfect responses, allmost all the time.. *dreams*

Or what if an AI could actually create and direct the gaming experience like a GM? Procedurally generated content is limited and boring because it's so repetitive, and there's never anything more than a token story associated with it - but with an advanced enough AI creating the content...

Wow yeah that would be awesome.. AI generated maps AND functional objects. It's getting crazy.. that's what I'm talking about. Stuff seems to good to be possible, but it is possible. I hope I'll be able to see it all before I die :)

And what if there would be actual genes in games, and the species of animals in game would actually mutate and develop into whole other being by itself, kind of like it develops in real DNA but then faster.. wow..

There'd need to be a way to simulate natural selection - there could be an entire simulated environment, with each generation living and reproducing for just a single day (which actually makes me sad to think about, but it's not like they'd have THAT good of AI to actually feel pain or understand their own mortality). The world could simulate climate shifts and other external things to drive natural selection. Plus, a system/world like that could just be a starting point, an undeveloped world from which even more complex environments and experiences could be made.

And the strongest species could live longer than a day.. there has to be stable species too, selected by its environment.. and other species living in the same area, they could consume eachother too

It would be an awesome project. I doubt there'd be enough money in it for any companies to want to make it, but maybe an eccentric billionaire... :)

The einstein and davinci of programming maybe :)
