I Am a Gamer
Gamer Since NES Days... Hello EP
Since this is my first post, I start off by saying that I'm a gamer. I been playing video games since the good old NES day. Yep. I use to own a NES side and top loader during those day. I maybe born around the SNES time, but my first console was the NES and first game was Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt. Super Mario was a great game and of course hard during mine young age , and of course ours during our first couple play through. Later in my life, I keep seeing new consoles keep coming through, things to try out.
My family did get me an SNES when I was around 8 yrs old and one of my close friend had the Sega Genesis. And those get to see new games from both consoles, and of course Nintendo and Sega's console wars.
Even later down the road, my family gotten the CD-i. That's right, the Philips CD-i. Most people think that it is a very bad console with bad games. But if you look it's life time, it was mostly a entertainment system then a game console. It never wanted to be in the video game market, that's why you got those 4 bad Nintendo games that you get to see through out the web. But I still say that you should give CD-i a chance and find a console and few games. Then play the games yourself, without looking at other peoples thoughts and see what you think on them. I do own one of the 4 Nintendo games on the CD-i, Hotel Mario, and I actually like the game. Or course the game has it's flaws, but it is still fun play now and then. Another game is Burn:Cycle and it is the very best game, to my thought, out of the bunch that CD-i games has to offer.
I didn't get the Next gen Nintendo after that, but I did get a Sony Playstation afterwards from the family, The PSX. Sadly, that had a short life due to my sis thought being funny and trying to get the controller off my hands by leaning herself to the controller cable. Of course I didn't let go, but the console did. I console losts it's pla<x>yer slots connectivity and it is render useless. But later that year, I got the PSone, I was happy on getting to play my games again. Also, I did play a few handhelds and N64 from other family memebers. So I did get to play games, like Super Mario 64, SSB, Mario Land, Mario Kart 64. I played them and thought they were very great games. I enjoy them so much.
Then came the next set. My family got the PS2, but later I bought the GCN so that I can go back to the root of playing games once started. I did got games for both ends. SSBM, Mario Kart Double Dash, Tony Hawk games, Sims, Twisted Metal Black, and many more. Ah such great library of games, I did found one strange game, but also entertaining, is Katamari Damacy. I thought it was strange, even with it's control setup. But I got hooked and had lots of fun with the game. So many great titles I played. I can't believe we got more to comes after these such great gens. But also try out the Nintendo handhelds during these gens, the GBA and NDS, and also enjoy them, especially the Mario Kart series on them.
Then, the current gens came around. I decided to trade up my GCN and use some of my extra cash to get the Wii since those early Wiis have GCN compatibility. I had lot of fun trying out those games titles that Nintendo had to offer, I didn't even care what people say about the Wii. I thought the game play through the games count, not just graphics and power that the console can handle. But it doesn't mean I don't like them. I did gave the Xbox (first console), the 360, and the PS3 and try and love them and what they had to offer. I did try out the games, like Halo 2, Guitar Hero series, LittleBigPlanet, many more games for those consoles. Also, during this time, I gave yet another chance to go on PC. During the SNES time, I played a few games on Windows, like Neverhood and Doom. But most of the time, it's family computer and I barely get the computer enough play to get my attention. Because of my one friend I knew knowledge me about Steam, I got on it and gave it a go. I got hook after I found such great games, like the Orange Box. At took me near the end of the current gen, I got the 3DS, PS3 and PS Vita. I still yet gotten the 360, because I have Windows and a 360 controller with receiver. I can play any games that has controller support and play my games like that. But I may soon get the 360 and find some of the current gens on their I can buy and play on there once in awhile.
And now the next gen. The PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One. I have to say, I do own the Wii U and fully paid off the PS4 once it comes out. But the Xbox One, it's between the middle. They have some good games, but they are leaning more onto the entertainment side a bit too much. If they don't fix this soon, they may end up having similar problems, like the CD-i. Being an entertainment system most of it's life and found out they did something wrong near the end and try to fix it. Of course being too late and they lost a lot of money in the process of doing so. I just hope what they had in mind is also good for the gamers and other people a like. It was kinda said when I went to a certain game store and they told me that their is more pre-orders of PS4's then Xbox One. More like 5 times then Xbox one. It shows you right their how much people that want game system then the entertainment system. I can't wait to give the PS4 a try, even the Xbox One whenever I get a chance to get it.
I hope this somes things up about me. A big gamer. Maybe not a huge gamer, because there are other people out there thinking that they are the huge gamer of the bunch. I just think of myself of a big gamer and I don't mind playing classics and today's games. I hope I can find other games and console that I never played and give them a try, even consoles before I was born (like Atari 2600).
