@helenS I remember that! It was very addictive. The machines used to be in cafes, and all over the place. One guy I knew would put his car on the cross-channel ferry, go to the machine under the stairs and play till it was time to drive off the other end 🚗 He got pretty good at it...

Tetris is a puzzle video game created by Russian programmer Alexey Pajitnov in 1984, where players rotate and arrange falling tetromino (four-square) shapes to form complete horizontal lines, which then disappear.

@helenS That's the one. It had Russian origins, and was all over the place circa 1988-90. I was in France at the time and you didn't have to look very hard to find a machine in a cafe somewhere.

I didn't know such machines existed. I have a version which runs on a classic Macinthosh computer.
