It will definitely happen. They pretty much confirmed it. Though they will likely use the temporary exclusivity route. Which will either occur in one of two ways.
1. Make a mass influx of players who never had access to the games because they were playstation or nintendo fanboys, get a taste for the games. Once the player base spends a few years fully immersed (5 - 7 years or so.) Pull back into them being xbox exclusives again.
or 2. Every new release of a game will have about a year and a half only being on Xbox/Microsoft platforms until being ported to the other platforms.
This makes it difficult for others to completely resist being forced to wait to play some of the games that might become their favorite.
Microsoft saw how well Sony's temporary exclusive contracts worked in the past with games like Final Fantasy and Call of Duty. So they're just going to copy them now.

@caPnAhab They might not. But it's always within the realm of possibility, especially under the guise of "New leadership." You just have one person take a backseat. Put another in their place. Have them test the new idea. Rile up the official xbox fanboys. "We're exclusively for you again!" cheers and applause from the fans of the system. Confused and disappointed boos and chatter from the ones that like the games but aren't a fan of the consoles.
It's not a difficult thing. It also would bring up another one of those "Licensing" debates as to owning physical copies etc...
Either way I do believe those games will be on all the other platforms. Even if it's not a permanent thing. But it also could definitely be a permanent thing, and maybe all they want is just another large influx of money. So selling to all the platforms provides that for them.

It's been forever since I played halo. But I'm all for it. No more exclusivity nonsense. Let people play the game on their preferred platform

@deadgerbil could potentially grow the fanbase by a lot. I'll always welcome new players

I want the other way around. I'd so buy Sony exclusive games

@greensnacks gladly. I like a lot of fps and RPG games, with a campaign.
I'm not done with Baldur's Gate either, but again. Really good
