The PS2 is a complete upgrade in every way. It's also backwards compatible aside from 5 titles. A few sport and racing games and a very fun RPG game called Legend of Dragoon, however that game is playable on a PS3.
PS2 also has fast disc speed & higher resolution option, which allows ps1 games to run & load faster and boost the resolution too.

@Thexboxoneguy1991 it's definitely worth having a PS1 if you already have a PS2.
So, if you already have a PS2, buy a PS1. If you already have a PS1, buy a PS2. If you don't have a PS1 or a PS2, then get both. I have them all.
