I Like Videogames
Harvest moon was one of the first ever videogames I played and one of the first series I fell in love with. I got every single game excluding one of the islands ones (I think islands of happiness) because it slipped under my radar somehow and magical melody bc I never had a GameCube.
My all time favorites were friends of mineral town, wonderful life, DS Cute and New Beginnings.
Then the infamous company split happened. I got both story of seasons and lost valley and against popular opinion I liked lost valley more than story of seasons. Story of seasons was prettier, but the characters were bland compared to lost valley. There was also nothing unique about story of seasons. Having to fight over crop fields was annoying. Only being able to sell stuff whenever the vendor randomly decided to show up was annoying, and that was an idea done much better in grand bazaar. I never ended up getting that much into the game. The next harvest moon games that came out i was appalled with how ugly they were and though as a loyal fan I bought them I was so turned off by the look that I didn't play them at all. They looked like cheap mobile games. I got the 2nd story of seasons as well to give it another shot and once again found nothing unique that motivated me to keep playing so I didn't make it far at all. I took a look at doraemon and don't see anything to me that stands out either so its actually the first of these series that I chose not to buy.
I feel very sad that these games seem not to be able to hold my interest any longer. I personally would like to see a more in depth farming experience and would love to see them go back the route of wonderful life and do more realistic farming, or even modernizing it a bit. Putting in some sort of animal or crop genetics system could be neat too. I loved the system in lost valley and working to grow new crops in that way. Instead of raising animal quality just through petting maybe make it so you can breed better ones too. I don't know just suggestions. I have been craving another really good farming game.
