I Love Trains
Did you know the first trainspotter ever was a girl who lived in the 19th century near Swindon. She lived by the railway and had a notebook and wrote down the numbers of the engines going down to Bristol and to Wales.
I grew up on the railway. One of the railway children. My Dadcu (grandfather in English) is the stationmaster in Brynaman. It’s a coal line. When I was in primary I used to go to work with him in the summer and spend my days playing on the platform. And go with Dadcu to the other stations. On the engines or in the guard’s van. I could never stand up in the guard’s van. It shakes so much. They don’t have them now. The guard travels in the other end of the engine.
