The sky is not an escape, but a return to oneself

Sometimes I wonder why people seem so busy and powerful on the ground, but once they sit in the cockpit, put on their headsets, and hear that clear communication, they suddenly become quiet.
I remember one time flying over a city, with roads stretching out like veins, as everyone rushed around, living their lives, and holding on. But in that moment, I felt—I had finally returned to myself.

The sky is magical; it doesn't push you further away from the world, but instead helps you see it clearly:
Many troubles haven't disappeared; you simply realize which ones are worth bearing and which ones you can actually let go of.

For me, flying has never been about "showing off"; it's a very intimate conversation with myself.
Like a reminder: you can control the direction, but you don’t have to control everything.

I want to ask you all:
Have you ever had a moment during a flight when you suddenly understood what you truly wanted in life?

Are you saying that you are the pilot or the passenger?

edit:
Okay, I see out of at least 2 years of posting you almost never reply to anyone on SW (you only have 5 replies total on your replies page)

I'm asking because you're not sitting in the pilot's seat (you're sitting in the right seat, once the image is flipped so that the "smoking" text reads correctly) and you have no instruments. So I'm not sure to what you would be applying the phrase "showing off".

@ThirstenHowl I was flying that flight. The selfie angle is mirrored, so I get why you thought it was the right seat. And no, I’m not going to have instruments in the frame in every photo. I just grabbed a quick selfie while we were stable and cruising

@ThirstenHowl I don't usually reply often, but I want to take this opportunity to explain your question clearly
@LesleyLee what type of plane is this (make and model)?
LesleyLee · 36-40, FVIP
@ThirstenHowl That’s a Diamond DA40, made by Diamond Aircraft. Super clean little plane. By the way, I'm not here for anyone to question me. I can sense your malicious intent, so please leave
@LesleyLee that's not a Diamond DA40 interior, and you ARE sitting in the right seat when the pics are flipped to the correct orientation (which is the only way one can read the "smoking prohibited" notice in front of "you" near the top of the panel)
