Alpha, Romeo, Zulu, Golf! At 13:45 hours!

@icedsky please change channels to Sierra, Echo!

BTW the name is supposed to change every so often. ESPECIALLY concerning nukes!
Was this on shortwave or HAM?

At one point, a Trident was broadcasting an automated maintenance message. HAM operators detected it, as it went unattended for months.

Once chatter in the HAM community began, the Trident broadcast ceased.

@SethGreene531 It was through an Online SDR. Has a list of assorted online radio servers you can get on. That one I was on was based out of Germany.
@icedsky Interesting. Great catch! Sat on those SDR stations at times but didnt get much.

From a bit of research, it seems it's a standard SAC broadcast, for varied purposes, including nuclear go-no go. Always classified and used throughout NORAD since the cold war.

@icedsky Old memories :)
As I recall, Sky King was an in-the-blind high frequency transmission by the US military flight service radio network. Everyone assumed it was intended for SAC aircraft scattered around the planet. That HF network also served overseas flights where there was no direct contact with the airspace's controlling agency. Once beyond 250 or 300 miles of civilization you are/were beyond VHF line of sight range, so for 2,000 plus miles of ocean that aircraft had no direct contact with the controlling agent for the airspace. Those HF radio stations provided the links for relaying position reports, emergencies, etc. It was much like short-wave or CB chaos, with transmissions overstepping one another, morse code, difficulty maintaining connection, etc. Static was so severe at times that they replaced the word "Roger" with "Charlie".

I've been away from the biz for 40 plus years, is Sky King still out there?

I have to wonder, were any of those authentication codes stored in Joe Biden's garage?

Don't scare us like that. 😳

@SW-User Use to hear them a lot back in the early 2000s. Sky king messages only have something to do with Nukes.

@Gangstress Hopefully they are just shuffling things around.
