You will drop it.. many times while learning, so get something used and already dented. After 2+ years you can get the Harley.
I would recommend a Honda Shadow ACE 750 if you can find one, they are popular beginner bikes because they are really low to sit on so you can flat foot them, and they won't immediately kill you if you pull too hard on the throttle.
