I was 31. I couldnt afford when I was first old enough to drive. Then I lived in cities with good public transport and didn't need a car. It was only the imminent arrival of child number 2 that finally made made me give in and learn.

Passed my first driving test, probably written at 14 and took drivers ed in summer school.

moved that summer to Louisiana where the driving age was 15. After my 15th birthday I took a driving test that had to be the shortest on record. one block turn left around median, one block back, turn left back to driving test location, parallel park. I passed.

2 years later I took my third driving test in rush hour traffic in downtown Vancouver and passed.

Been driving 61 years, and still enjoy it.

Happy Motoring as was the commercial.
