I first started driving in 1999 gas was .96 cents per gallon in my neighborhood.
I distinctly remb putting in 5$ many times and getting about 1/4 tank.

@REMsleep I remember about 75 cents a litre? 1999 was about the time gas prices started going up (during my memory).
REMsleep · 41-45, F
@thewindupbirdchronicles Yes thats correct. All my childhood gas had hovered at 0.70 to 0.89 cents per gallon then by the time I got my first car in 2001 it was over a dollar and kept rising from there. Generally Canadians paid slightly less per litre than whatever we paid per gallon. ( not fair I know). Not sure what country you are from.

@REMsleep I wouldn't reference Canada if I wasn't from there. Not sure what country you are from but last I checked Canadians typically pay slightly more, not fair I know.... but it's okay. We can both find this time stupid and that time stupid too.

@REMsleep I had a little Geo Prism and usually filled it up for $10 and could drive for 3 weeks on a tank back then.

@cherokeepatti Wow. I specifically remember that car because it has a very little known hatchback edition and it was the tiniest hatchback that I ever saw. Only saw 1 or 2 ever but I was mesmorized as a kid.

@REMsleep Mine wasn’t a hatchback but it was much smaller than the later Geo Prism models. I got another one and it was good on gas mileage but it was bigger and not as good as the smaller one.
