My Mom used to panic and gasp....to the pointcthat once I hit the brakes, put the car into park and opened the door. I told her that I was walking hone and that she could drive the car back.
My father had far more patience, and I'm glad he took the time to teach me how to drive rather than freaking out whenever I was driving.

I can relate, and I never got past a humble learner's permit!!

A friend of mine hates driving. But has to get to work. Bought the most uninspiring car he could find. He bought a Prius.

I couldn't do it with my kids. My wife had the patience of Job and had a much better temperament for that job. Maybe it was because she couldn't see as well. Had no idea of how close they came to crashing? I was a nervous wreck and "yelled a bit".

Both of them became excellent drivers but no thanks to me.
