This is a PSA: stop accelerating.
When your car slips in the ice, stop accelerating. I see so many people trying to compensate by just doing more of whatever caused them to slide in the first place. They turn harder, they accelerate faster.
Next time, try gradually easing off the gas. Only turn if you have to, and ideally do it toward wherever your tail end is going (though that can be circumstantial). Brake as gradually as you eased off the gas. You're slowly transitioning from acceleration to braking.
If you get stuck going up a hill, similar thing. Your car needs to cling to the ground beneath it and torquing your wheels won't help. Slowly and gently press the gas. If you slip, ease off.
Downhill, you're basically letting gravity do the work when moving. When stopping, you guessed it: ease onto the brakes. Otherwise you lose control.
You're welcome. I'm going back to being mad at the majority of you now. Don't die.
Also disclaimer: whatever trouble you cause out there is your own doing. I didn't get behind the wheel for you. So don't go testing some dumb shit and then suing me.
