My parents had two used Chevy Citations in the late 80's and early 90's. I learned to drive on them.

@gandalf1957 I had a golf mk1 Gti in the late 80s. Love mk 2 escorts and the Talbot was second hand. No rich kid here.
gandalf1957 · 61-69, M
@Perry1968 when i said more wealthy, I was talking about purchasing new ones when they came out in mid to late 1970s not pre owned 10 years later :-)
Perry1968 · M
@gandalf1957 The one i had was 6 yesrs old. But even new i doubt they were expensive. Still at 18 you are buzzing jumping in that. Unless your a spoiled ungreatful turd. I was over the moon with it back then.

My mum had one
My mum had one
Perry1968 · M
@jackjones68 Yes. They wernt great but at 18 i loved mine. They were easy to work on though like most cars of that era. Today sheeesh. EGRs. DPFs etc etc. And ford VW and hondas wetbelt engine. My god what were they thinking running a rubber belt through oil lol.

I didn’t drive yet in 1986

80's boxy cars (K car, Escort) were so ugly. I grew up in the muscle cars of the late 60's early 70's. They just oozed balls
SomeMichGuy · M
Is it a Renault?
Perry1968 · M
@SomeMichGuy No. I.ll tell you. Talbot Sunbeam TI. only a little 1.6 with twin webbers but very light car. They did a lotus version too. But apparently these are rarer than the lotus ones. Maybe because they all rusted out lol. Its just a blast from the past.

@Perry1968 Talbot...hmmm...ok!

Talbot Sunbeam
Perry1968 · M
@OldBrit Lol i had the 1.8 non turbo derv one. I loved it. Used to travel to bristol and back regularly in it. Great car. Had a 1.1 petrol version too. That 2.0 hdi was a cracking engine used in so many cars. Picasso. Peugeot 406 etc. And yeah the talbot 😆 Nice at the time but i was just 18. My fist car was a mk3 2 litre corrina. I paid £55 for it lol. Had the old pinto engine. Cams rsttling away but i drove it everywhere. Sh.t car though.

It looks like something European so I have no idea.
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
Looks like a standard Datsun/Honda/Toyota of the time
Perry1968 · M
@NativePortlander1970 No. Ive had a few Datsuns. Brilliant little things. I love Japanese cars. The Germans once made great cars but they really are trash now. I own a Toyota now. Nothing flashy. Just a convenient reliable little thing
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@Perry1968 I am just saying what it looks like, a standard Japanese cookie cutter auto.
Perry1968 · M
@NativePortlander1970 Trouble is though. It isnt
