@Gangstress as I mentioned, many USA autos have governors that limited the vehicles speed. It's normally done by the computer chips. And they usually can't go over 120mph because of it.

Without it, my Chevy could easily do 140mph. The torque is enough to pull trailers.

My old Chevy pulled a 2 ton roll off once that only had steel six inch wheels.

@Gangstress oh even your's have chips. They just don't have the programming to limit the speed. Which in the auto industry is called a governor.

Long ago they did it mechanically. Now everything is done by chips and programming.
