Ever heard a car backfire before?

Sounds like a gunshot. It would happen with older cars if there was a problem with the carburetor or distributor.

Heard all kinds of things backfire. It's not always like a gunshot. One of my bikes likes to gently backfire through the carbs on deceleration. Need to pull do the carbs on that one, but there are fucking four of them.

We used to do this, especially with a manual transmission, going down a grade the driver would turn the key off, then turn it back on and BOOM!!
Was really fun if there were cows or sheep near the road!!
@Quimliqer Kind of makes me think of the scene in Uncle Buck...

Gunshots, car backfires, or firecrackers. The hood will never know.
