You have several problems with them doing that.
How high do you want unemployment to go? Because the Aftermarket Industry employees up to 10 million or more people.
Then with newer vehicles that use fossil fuels, you have to replace them with something that doesn't even exist and will not exist for at least 15 years or more. That is a vehicle that will travel further than a few hundred miles in a single charge.
Good luck in your endeavors, because what you're proposing is not economically feasible anytime soon.
Plus as an another factor is that all you're going to do is make poor people poorer.
