I Love Cars

For those of you that drive petrol/diesel cars, can you see yourself moving to a hybrid or fully electric car anytime soon? If so - is that through choice?

I just hope that none of us are forced to have electric cars, they don't have the range for long journeys, the batteries wear out and then cost thousands of £ to replace, and if everyone in the UK switched to electric cars as a country we don't have the power capacity necessary to generate enough electricity to power them anyway.

@UKNaturist hybrid is a better alternative, but you then end up with two motors and consequently double the risk of engine problems and their associated repair bills

@SW-User My main issue is that they talk about the electric car being a cleaner alternative to petrol/diesel but how much pollution is created in providing the electricity to power them?

@UKNaturist exactly right. We will need to build more power stations which will probably have to be nuclear ones

I love cars so I would be reluctant to move away from petrol but would do it to make a difference to air quality. The issues are:

Cost
Availability of charging stations
Choice of vehicles.

When those three things are properly addressed I'll make a change.

no i can not they hybrid has a petrol engine and the fully electric has a bigger carbon foot print than my jaguar by the time youv re-charged the li,polly battery's

li-polly battery's have a life span of about 4 to 6 years then it will cost a staggering £6000 to replace it £4000 for the new battery the rest for the garage to install it thats about $9000 usa what a fucking con

Nope, if the government has to subsidise them to make the company profit and make the consumer want them it's a waste
