I Love Classic Cars

So do I they have a timeless class and elegance.
The UK Government today have from 2040 banned all Petrol and Diesel Engine Cars from UK roads and will only allow electric powered cars from 2040, it is not long until it happens only 23 years.

Interesting. They will have to make major upgrades to their electrical grids to accomodate that much power that it will take to charge these vehicles. Especially if everyone will be charging them overnight. Nobody has really thought out the ramifications. Plus the ones here do not go very far on fully charged batteries and they cost twice as much as a gasoline powered car.

Yes, it is far enough but infrastructure is a major cost. Even some homes are going to have to be re-wired to accomodate the type wattage that these chargers take. Have you ever had wiring done on your existing home? Not cheap to do. That's not to say what they have to do to transmission lines substations before they even get to the plants. They will have to subsidize many families to make improvements and upgrades.

Not impossible, but it is going to be a tremendous cost for people to incur. Plus the inconvenience of going less than 50 miles on a charge. Then you will pay a high dollar in cost and time to recharge so you can continue.

@imLobo Hell smoking tobacco does more harm to people that the emissions of a car will do by far. You are being sold a bill of goods. You also need to look at what the impact on power grids will be. This is not like plugging in another air conditioner or dryer. Yes, it will work on several houses in the neighborhood, but when everyone has to have them, power grids will have to be doubled in output.

Then you have the problem of the few miles you are getting on a full charge. They have backup engines that will still require gasoline or petrol to power them. Double the price of your car, double the price of your electric bill and limit your trips to 40 miles. Sounds like it will really help people.

Enviromentalists never look at the effects of their idea's beyond the one small thing they want to change. Cost be damned. Full steam ahead.

We will have to agree to disagree.
