Ideal breed of dog on a boat

This is the younger Brother. We have his older sibling and his parents, four of them. They have their own doggy door to get in and out if we open it up for them.

Little dog, very clever and they have big hearts.

I LOVE chihuahuas. I used to own some.

@Flowerz We have four of them - the oldest, the Dad is about to turn 17... and in perfect health.. he is very muscular and is perfectly proportioned and he is kept busy chasing his mate...

Very nice! Why are they the best breed for boats?
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 Can double as live bait for White Pointers.

@sarabee1995 they are easy to load and unload. They do not need much space and are well mannered while sailing. The world record for oldest living dog is a chihuahua. They love hot weather but they do like to curl up under blankets when it is cold out - I put a pillow on the cockpit floor and a blanket - they often lie on the pillow under the blanket when it is cool out... The primarily white dogs handle the heat better, the black ones tolerate the sun for less time and go below for shade when they get too warm... they do not eat much and they are easy to handle when they need to relieve themselves they can do with short walks... one negative is they shed a LOT for a small dog.. (short haired dogs) so I have a vacuum with a beater brush to clean up the boat.. Short legs - very agile when the boat is heeled over.. I love Dobermans but I am not sure I would have one in my bunk.. Chihuahuas find all sorts of cool "nesting" spaces on the boat .... also who can lift a big dog to get it down below? These guys weigh six pounds each.. Together they weigh a fraction of one big dog...

Labs are strong swimmers and love the water.
pdqsailor1 · 61-69, M
@redredred good hunting dogs, not great boat dogs unless your boat has an elevator to get them in and out of it and enough space so they can have their own bunk. They are BIG dogs.. and big dogs are not easy to own on a boat...

Any breed that loves water !

@pdockal on a boat... not in the water... big difference...
