I tried biking to the store today.
Key word, tried. My back tire was leaky, and went flat ~2/3 of the way there. Had to push the damn thing a lot of the way, covered in sweat by the time I made it. Loaded up my bike bags with groceries (mostly produce, I'm making a salad), and then took my bike back.
Broadly speaking, this grocery trip was sort of a failure. It basically ate up my whole evening, which sucks a lot. But at the beginning there -- before the tire went flat -- I had my chance to competently bike in traffic, and it felt pretty good while it lasted. Exhilarating, even. And I got a chance to feel like the person that I wanted to be, loading groceries into my bike bags and locking the damn thing up at the supermarket.
I'll just buy a new inner tube. Woulda been able to use the one I bought earlier, but my wheel just can't fit a schrader valve.
