I know here its usually 5 - 10kmph, (3 - 6 mph).
- basically 'fast walk to fast running speed of a human.
Which is logical as in a parking lot you can have a lot of things going on :
Kids playing
Teens mucking about
Dogs
Trolleys
Old people
Single parents with multiple kids
Skate boards
Scooters
Etc...
Its very easy to forget about these when they arent part of your life.
It only takes ONE second at these speeds to travel the length of your car.
ONE SECOND to see/decide/react to save a life in front of you.
Double this speed to 20kmph (12mph) - and you need to respond in HALF a second.
99% of people cant do that 🤷♀
Its also about force = greater the speed = greater the force on impact = greater the damamge to a soft mushy human.
