Subaru Impreza Hatchback or Toyota Corolla Cross LE?

Trying to decide on my first car. Buying a new one. I graduate in a few weeks! Features most important to me:

-AWD
-Blind Spot Monitoring
-Foldable back seats (so a hatchback/SUV)
-At least 30 mpg combined city/highway

And my budget for everything including CA tax, registration, etc is $30k. Any recommendations?

I've owned a couple of Toyotas in the past, but I love my Subaru Crosstrek. Will you be doing any light off-roading? If so, you might consider something with a little more ground clearance, like the Crosstrek.

Both brands are decent. Former Toyota SUV owner and currently own Subaru SUV. They handle and drive differently. Have you test-driven them? Is the Subaru Crosstrek in your budget?

how can you afford a 30 grand car right out of college when you are deep in debt for college and will be just starting your first job at McDonald's no matter what degree you get the only jobs out there are burger flipping or retail work or murder for hire in a gang. most wind up in prison or dead before 30.

For fuel economy I’d go for the Toyota. Subarus are notorious for being a boy racer car and sucking gas in the process. They do hold the road well and handle well.

@trackboy nope, guys or girls aged 18-25 seeing who can be the fastest on the most pimped ride.
Where I live they are called boy racers.
They are also the ones who have to pay the highest Insurance premiums because they have the most crashes.

@justanothername wow, the fastest drivers. so are the girls then called girl racers?? a pimp ride, like a pimp mobile?? in the movie shaft they used a real-life pimp car with all that fancy chrome on it. the pimp even had a small role in the movie since they used his car in the movie. this is the original shaft made in the 1970s, not the new movie. wow, they get in a lot of crashes. then they are bad drivers too instead of being skilled racers that are good at driving fast without crashing. 🍫

go around to retirement homes and find a nice slightly used vehicle. they have bulletin boards with vehicles for sale. these folks are wealthy and do not drive junk
