Have you ever thought about getting a classic car and taking a road trip?

I know it isn't really practical, but I definitely think about it often. A clean classic muscle car some good music and just hit the road.

Without the classic car (unless a Camry is considered classic), I did it after a marriage of 20 years ended.

I drove the US - Boston to the Florida Keys, Georgia to Denver - for 11 months. The Rockies, the Badlands, the Louisiana bayous, the plains, the deserts. No destination, just the journey.

It was amazing.

@Stereoguy 😂 It began simply because I didn't know what else to do. Kinda like Forrest Gump running across the country.

@Stereoguy I talked a guy named Billy into taking me with him on his crab boat on Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana. A tiny restaurant in the S. Dakota Badlands in the middle of nowhere that had three-ring binders signed by people from everywhere in the world. The Florida wetlands that look like a dinosaur will raise its head above the trees at any moment. First sight of the Rockies.

A hundred more.

@Stereoguy Just locally. It really WAS like Forrest Gump. Once I was done, I was done.

@Mamapolo2016 I am trying to plan a motorcycle trip through the Badlands in September. Most of the people I have talked to that have been there have the most amazing stories about going there.

@Roadsterrider I drove them sunroof open and Lakota Sioux drum-and-chant team CD blasting from the stereo. I recommend it.

DO get gas at every opportunity, and take water with you.
@Mamapolo2016 that’s so nice.

@Stereoguy A 1400 and an 800 Suzuki Intruder, an Ultra Classic Harley, a 1980 1000cc Iron-head Sportster, A 1200cc Roadster Sportster. A 1971 T500 Suzuki, a 1997 FZR600 Yamaha. Current favorite is a Honda XR650L dual sport and my son and I just bought a SV650 Suzuki Adventure. I have a few more that are in the project stages. I have been riding motorcycles since I was 4 years old. My first true love.
@LilithoftheTrees To the best of my knowledge, I have no Native American ancestry. But that trip through the Badlands - so beautiful, so forbidding - put me in touch with something.

@Mamapolo2016 I can imagine. I envy you….how wonderful!

@Stereoguy Probably the Honda, there are some off road sections involved.

@Mamapolo2016 🥺What about Utah?
@Lostpoet I had already been to Utah. My uncle lived in Salt Lake. He wasn't Mormon. He was alcoholic.
Lostpoet · M
@Mamapolo2016 Mormons can be alcoholics too they just have to be secretive. Lol

SLC is the best.
@Lostpoet You're right, but he wasn't Mormon. Unless he was Mormon in secret.
