@Musicman It’s a crazy online lottery. It used to be the earlier you were online, the better your chances. I’d open up 3 different phones/laptops to get lucky.

This year, no matter how quickly you got online, you didn’t get a place in the queue. You just got a random number. My random number was over 5000. Thus, the ferry was sold out for the summer for anything approximating weekend travel.

That’s important because Jeep rentals START at $399/day before taxes and fees. A couple years ago it was $599/day. Anyway, the trip became so expensive that it was easier to lose 15% on the house rental which was pre-contracted.

It’s my favorite place anywhere so it was quite the bummer. 🫤

@Adogslife Could you go somewhere else in Maine that doesn't require a ferry ride?

@Musicman Nantucket has the ferry. It’s 30 miles out in the Atlantic off the coast of MA.

Bar Harbor is in ME. That’s just a simple but long drive, maybe six hours depending on traffic…

@Adogslife Sorry, I missed that part. I am just not awake today. Personally my wife and I really like Mystic in Connecticut.

@Musicman I know that area well. My family used to own a retail shop in Olde Mystic Village.

@Adogslife We love the living history maritime museum. We always have so much fun when we go there.
