She wears a Red Sox cap ...

Ever think about changing your lattitude and living a different life??

There is a side of me ... a small side ... she lives in a quiet corner in the back of my mind ... and somehow Kenny found her and wrote this song about her. 🙂

I want to move closer to the equator someday.

@JoyfulSilence Don't we all!!

My fiance and I are having a small, family-only quiet wedding in the Caribbean in January. Then the reception is scheduled to be back up here in the snow. 🤣

We *might* come back for the reception! ;)

Awesome! I have never been to the Caribbean, unless you include Key West.

I have been to Maine, but never in winter.

The weather is gorgeous here, though. I am on an unplanned, paid, mini staycation due to the furlough.

@JoyfulSilence I would consider the Keys to be more in the Gulf than in the Caribbean. But just as nice. I've been to Key West and it is truly amazing. A bit more crowded than I like, but still amazing.

And Maine is like my back yard. I am across the Gulf of Maine down on Cape Cod, but have ventured up to Maine many times in both summer and winter. :)

Yes, I think I heard something about your furlough!!! 🤣 There have been a few stories on that in my feed. Enjoy the paid staycation. :)

Everything will be fine as long as there is no RIF. But maybe they will offer VERA first and I can call it a career and be on permanent vacation.

I could find a cheap place in a desert to live out the rest of my days.

I drove through MA in the middle of the night to get to and from ME.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@JoyfulSilence You should stop and check it out next time. It's pretty nice up here. :)

@sarabee1995

I stopped at a restaurant in MA.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@JoyfulSilence Not enough. 🙄
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
@sarabee1995

But I was full. 😁

I have also been to Boston, for a statistical conference, in 2015, if I recall. I had lots of chowda.

It will be in Boston again, next summer. Perhaps I will go, assuming they lift the non-essential training and travel spending freeze. Nobody is going to conferences these days.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@JoyfulSilence If you do go to Boston... Take a few extra days and visit Cape Cod. It's worth the drive down.
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
@sarabee1995

I won't have a car. Or the time.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@JoyfulSilence Cars can be rented; Time can be arranged. 😌

@sarabee1995

I would be using government money, so I am not sure they would like me arriving early or leaving late. And all those extras would be on my own dime.

I would rather drive myself all the way there someday and stay a week (to make the trip worth it).

But if I am going to do all that, I might as well go to Maine again. 😁
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@JoyfulSilence Yes, of course your own dime. I'm just saying if they are bringing you up here for a day or two or a week, just delay the return flight, rent a car (personally), head to the Cape, get a room (personally) and enjoy a few days. It is well worth the trip.

Let me ask you a question... Do you enjoy the Maryland shore? Fresh crabcakes and all that?
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
@sarabee1995

I do not visit it often because there are very few free access points. And I rarely eat at waterfront restaurants. Crabcakes are expensive and not good enough to justify the price. When I do get seafood, I prefer stuff like mussels and pasta, often at Italian restaurants.

When I was in Maine I got lobster pasta at a waterfront place. It was very cheap since right out the window were lobster pots in the bay!

When I was in Boston, I got a whole lobster at a waterfront seafood place. That government per diem is generous, and I usually only ate one big meal a day. And lots of clam chowder at the hotel cafe. It was great!
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@JoyfulSilence Oh! I love waterfront restaurants! To me they are worth a few extra bucks for the view.

Glad you got to experience some truly fresh lobster. It's not the same when it's "shipped in fresh daily" 🙄
