Has anyone tried to invite himself/herself on your vacation?

An associate, who knows I go to the beach [by myself] every year, stated 'if I wanted company', she would like to come and join me. We are not even close like that.

I declined, of course, but thought it was pretty ballsy (and weird) of her to even suggest that.

Nope. I don't advertise it when I'm heading out on a trip on my own. I do have people say "Oh you should let me know next time, and I'll go with you!".
Haha. Yeah--NO! I don't think so.

@SomeMichGuy Bar Harbor is about 3-3.5 hrs NNE of Kennebunkport. We’ll pass it on the way as we have about a 6ish hour drive.
@Adogslife Exactly!

I saw it when I drove past on the way to Bar Harbor! lol

@Adogslife Oh bummer. I know you love it there. But Bar Harbor sounds nice. It's good to change it up once in a while.
I think I would like that if I liked them. We don’t have to stay in the same room or spend all day together.

I did have a female friend I had known for about 5 years ask if I was going on a cruise alone.

I didn't know she had been single for over 2 years

Well,,,,,, we did go on the cruise together.

We are much closer now.
@ShenaniganFoodie Glad it worked out. 😊
Yep. Both parents in law where on my wife and I's honeymoon. Oh and the sister in law too 😂
@BritishFailedAesthetic Wow. How was that experience?
@DreamyCrush All good wife is from an entirely different culture- walking in to people's houses unannounced after a long time and getting introduced to my wife's family was quite the experience!

Plus my father in law drove us from Lusaka to Livingstone which was quite the experience and the most beautiful drive I've ever had!

My buddy a few times but he ends up paying for most of our trips so I'm okay with it 😀

@Cigarguy101 I'd love a buddy like that!
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@SW-User we've been friends since grade school. He's one of a kind for sure

I had a friend (not a good friend) years ago who found out I was going away with my two closest friends. She was trying to invite herself asking for details so she could book and join us. I told her not this year but maybe another time she could come. Didn’t want her coming; she was kinda trashy
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I don’t like intrusions on my “me” time. Also don’t like people who try and insert themselves into your life like that .
@AthrillatheHunt I agree 100%. I wouldn't think of imposing on anyone like that, especially someone I'm not close to.

I always get those . Once overseas even somehow
Yes I have. And I accepted. Because I didn't mind

WOW !! Absolutely ballsy of her.

But, I would be happy to join you 🤣🤣
JK !!

If she was paying her own way id say sure come on.
@DreamyCrush I.e., pretty much ALL the days, at YOUR expense...
@SomeMichGuy RIGHT!
@DreamyCrush That's VERY pushy / intrusive, and assumes a LOT
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Yrs. Then I tell them a passport is required and I have intention of "helping" with the airfare.
@Crazywaterspring You wrote

Then I tell them a passport is required and I have intention of "helping" with the airfare.
(Emphasis added.)

I think you meant

"I have NO intention of 'helping' with the airfare"

?
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@SomeMichGuy They may have $20 on a good day. I refuse to cover the balances. Adulting means providing for one's own wants, needs and desires.
@Crazywaterspring LMAO

YES

You really don't get it, do you? lmao
SW-User
No but I'd like that

Yes they did and they succeeded. They lied about sharing the costs. We got stuck with the entire bill, but everyone did have a good time.
DDonde · 31-35, M
Not yet, no.
Agreed. Ballsy and weird.
