What is something you can say to your dog/cat but not your partner ?

What a sweet bird (to my male parakeet after he tells me Thank you for doing something for them like cleaning the cage, taking them out to the sun room or giving food).

@Nimbus He's doing it every day now and when he wants something he also says it. "Thank you"....the magic words.
