i try them out as they are made available to me. taste plus texture decides for me, beyond that point.

@LittleQueen: I thought you just said you were categorically opposed to slavery. The way we treat our food animals have a lot of parallels with how slaves were treated

@HalfCactus: slavery of human beings, yes, not other species. i am a hypocrite, just like everyone else. besides, just because you can't hear an organic food source screaming when you bite into it doesn't mean it's not screaming for survival. everything that is alive eats something else that is/was alive. that's life.

@LittleQueen: Slavery was defended because it was taught that black people feel and think far less than white people, and their bodies made them ideal for working.

Eating meat is defended because we're taught that animals feel and think far less than humans, and that their bodies are ideal for eating.

Research has shown us that we've been taught wrong on both accounts

@HalfCactus: i know we're eating animals that have feelings, and research also shows that even vegetation shows signs of distress when culled. it's a wild world full of yin and yang. we're never, ever going to live in a perfect world, no matter how conscientious we try to be. however, i will not toss out my stance on human civil rights just because i and my world are imperfect.
