Neat...what a special word.

Theirs - Theirs is the third person plural possessive pronoun – it replaces their + noun.

The idea that theirs needs an apostrophe comes out of the fact that on virtually every other word, ‘s indicates possession, so English speakers sometimes think theirs should be spelled their’s. However, this is always incorrect – theirs is the only correct spelling.

@NearMiss: Oh yes...I see what you mean...their are as much a manifestation of us as we are in response to them. I guess what I am saying is that the two aspects (their creation and use) merged together to become how we think.

@Chamango: Yes I am...I hardly ever use the word and was interested to see that is gets to not have to use the 's.
