35 years ago, when I worked with people who were then described as "Retarded Adults" the clients themselves protested the word asking that the word be removed from their diagnosis/files...they themselves did this...the retarded people...it's no different to them than nigger is to black people, faggot to Gay men. It's dehumanizing...they are SO not stupid. They are intellectually Challenged. Sorry if this is too PC for you. It's offensive
