We get adrenaline rushes when we become angry, and we get endorphin releases when we score talking points that are validated by others. Both sides of the 'discussion' are aware that the opposition is never going to change their way of thinking, but the process is rewarding and entertaining in a bizarre and somewhat morbid way.
