Why do people care about others weight?

I read an article about a girl going to prom and she posted her prom pic of her and her boyfriend and someone said "wow he still loves you even though you're fat" like I don't understand why does ones weight matter to anyone else?

To be fat is unhealthy. Mentioning weight can be a sign of caring in some circumstances. Overused it can be annoying.

@Terminatrix: I'm confused, are you saying that because the girl is overweight, it's acceptable for this jelly backed piece of shit to be cruel by publicly humiliating this girl. surly by now we all must be aware of the long term damage this sort of cowardly behaviour can do to people, maybe the prick that posted the comment is ugly, perhaps we should attack them?
