Why do most service places ask for tips? not just sit-down places to eat but even the drive thru... i dont get a tip for doing my job.. LOL

Probably because most service industry jobs are paid at minimum wage.

Service sector jobs are largely done by folk who have little choice.
Maybe they're single parents or have caring commitments or college to attend or maybe they are easily employable in that sector because of their limited educational skills or any other number of reasons.
