Neither. Night on one side of a planet means it is turned away from the sun, meaning the other side is turned towards it and it's day there. They both came into existence simultaneously when the first planet and the sun came into existence.
You may argue that it was night everywhere before the sun existed, but I would say that was darkness, not night.
