I asked, "What accent do you have?"....someone answered "I live in California so I don't have an accent" LOL

OH jeez, everyone has an accent.

I know, that's why I had to laugh. Years ago, I moved to ND, people said they could tell I was from Ca. because of my accent.

The correct word may be dialect but the common understanding is accent. Some are more pronounced than others but that doesn't make the less pronounced ones any less a dialect. Notice I said ones, plural.
