Define your understanding of "Normal"

“Normal” is a word based on “norm” which means the arithmetic average. Normal reflects a conformity to the average, within a certain variance. It has also come to mean conformity to societal norms (i.e., most people are, or at least are perceived to be, heterosexual….so heterosexuality is viewed as “normal”).
Things which fall outside of this norm are deemed to be “abnormal” (not normal). This can be perceived to almost anything, and in some ways each of us will be considered normal while in other ways we will be considered abnormal.
In some groups, normalcy is prized….but in others it is not considered desirable.
