Sometimes you get given responsibilities because of your parents failings.....that's a tough one to live with.

True. But the things you have to go through leave a scar on your memory and a bigger one on your soul !!

Which is fine. If you have the capacity and the forethought to deal with it on your own.
Unfortunately humans do dumb things like involve other people in their lives and you just end up carrying it with you ! Only NOW you have the added aggro of having to deal with a partners troubles, as well as your own. and if you add kids to that mix.....
